Wales headlines 27 February: Wales bottom in six nations, marriage laws change, northern lights visible from Wales
  • last year
Wales sit bottom of the six nations table after the loss to England on the weekend. The 20-10 defeat means Wales have suffered their worst start to the tournament since 2007, and have lost all of their home games for the first time since 2003.

The legal age a person can marry in England and Wales has been increased to 18 as a new law comes into effect. Previously, it was possible to marry at 16 or 17 with parental consent, but now, all marriages, including non-legally binding ceremonies are against the law. The UK government said it means vulnerable children were protected from forced marriage.

Night sky watchers had a massive treat on Sunday night as the northern lights could be seen as far south as the Brecon Beacons. The Aurora Borealis, was caused by a solar flare shot off by the sun, causing the rare occurrence, with the possibility of more sightings across Wales this week.
