Union MoS for Home Affairs Nisith Pramanik’s convoy was attacked by goons in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar on February 25. Reportedly, a massive clash broke out between two groups when Pramanik’s convoy was passing through Burirhat in Cooch Behar. People were seen pelting stones at Nisith’s car and thrashing whatever came their way. The groups fought violently amongst themselves with bamboo sticks and also burnt few cars. Security personnel were deployed to control the raging group. Police baton charged and put up barricades to control the dispute but all went in vain. Women were also seen participating in the clash and arguing with the police. Nisith alleged the TMC party for the attack and said, “Democracy has collapsed totally in West Bengal. Even political leaders are not safe here, what would have been the condition of a common man if he was in my shoes, cannot be imagined. I condemn this act of TMC party. Look how the police is protecting and supporting the ones who were pelting stones and throwing bombs.”
