Harvey Weinstein sentenced to 16 years in prison

On February 24, 2023, Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 16 years in prison for raping a woman in a Beverly Hills hotel in 2013. This sentence is in addition to the 23-year prison sentence he is already serving in New York for sexually assaulting other women. The sentences will be served consecutively, meaning that Weinstein will not be eligible for release until at least the 2050s.
At his sentencing hearing, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Lisa Lench ruled that Weinstein cannot serve the two sentences concurrently. Prior to sentencing, Weinstein's lawyer argued that he is 70 years old and in poor health, but the judge ultimately decided on a 16-year sentence.
The jury found Weinstein guilty of one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault, and he faced a maximum of 18 years in prison for these charges. The conviction came after Jane Doe 1 testified that Weinstein assaulted her in a Beverly Hills hotel room in February 2013.
