This Robotic Dress Took 4 Months to Make

  • last year
This robotic petal dress took over 4 months to create and is the brainchild of fashion mad scientist, Cameron Hughes. You may know Cameron from creating costumes and robotic clothing for famous drag queen Aquaria, Bosco on the Season 14 finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Charli XCX, and Doja Cat. Cameron’s newest creation involved designing, 3-D printing, sewing, and also programming microchips. This dress design uses individual motors to move mechanical flower petals up and down, and side to side. This was created for the fabulous TikTok and Instagram creator Dylan Mulvaney which she put on full display for her iconic face reveal video. Cameron Hughes is inspired by outfits from all over, including many looks from Lady Gaga. Check out this functioning, fashionable piece of wearable robotic art: The Petal Dress.
