Ford F-150 Lightning Production Halt Triggered by Vehicle Battery Fire
  • last year
Ford Motor ($F@US) halted production of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup through the end of next week to address a potential battery issue that resulted in a vehicle fire. The fire occurred in a holding lot during a pre-delivery quality check and spread to a nearby vehicle. The report comes a day after Ford confirmed production of the highly anticipated electric pickup truck. Ford said on Wednesday it believes engineers have found the root cause of the fire and that adjustments to the truck’s battery production process could take a few weeks. South Korea-based SK On, a spinoff of SK Innovation, is the battery supplier for the truck. Ford and SK On announced a joint venture last year to establish battery production facilities in the U.S.
