Für Rafe gibt es im Leben nichts Schöneres, als Comicfiguren in sein Skizzenbuch zu zeichnen und sie in seiner wilden Phantasie zum Leben zu erwecken. Wäre doch nur alles andere auch so einfach! Der neue Freund seiner Mutter Jules scheint ihn gar nicht zu mögen und möchte ihn am liebsten loswerden und dann kommt Rafe auch noch auf eine neue Schule, die es in sich hat. Denn Schuldirektor Dwight führt ein strenges Regiment und duldet nichts, was auch nur annähernd Spaß machen könnte. Es kommt wie es kommen muss: Rafe wird auf frischer Tat dabei ertappt, wie er verbotenerweise gezeichnet hat. Als seine kleinen Kunstwerke konfisziert und dann auch noch vernichtet werden, eskaliert die Situation. Schluss mit der Schul-Diktatur!
