A Glasgow carer has plead guilty to stealing £20,000 from an elderly patient.

50-year-old Linda Dobbie from Govan, who was employed by Carr Gomm when the crime took place, told police she used the money to pay back her son’s drug debt.

Next up, as Glasgow City Council prepares next year’s budget, its finance director has warned of huge challenges.

Martin Booth said the pressure had come from increased inflation, while the Scottish government said it had given councils an additional £570 million in its December budget.

And in other news, people travelling from Glasgow Airport can now fly directly to Barbados for the first time.

Over 300 passengers made the first flight which was chartered by Hays Travel.
