Matthew Charles Fisher was born March 7, 1946 in Addiscombe, Croydon, an English organist and singer-songwriter whose organ sound is remembered by everyone on the composition "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" by Procol Harum. He began playing in bands as a teenager, at first on bass, but in 1964 after hearing "The Animals" and George Fame, he turned to the organ. After dropping out of the Guildhall School of Music, he toured with The Gamblers, Billy Fury's backing band. After The Gamblers, Matthew played with various local bands before joining Peter Jay And The Jaywalkers in 1966. Fisher appeared on Procol Harum in early 1967, although he continued touring with Screaming Lord Sutch for some time. After leaving the group in 1969, Matthew released 4 solo albums, was a producer for Robin Trower, James Dewar and duet "Tír na nÓg". In 1991-2003 he was again in Procol Harum.
