Oldham driver hits with fine in Birmingham clean air zone after camera misreads his number plate
  • last year
A man was hit with a £500 fine and woke to find bailiffs knocking at his door - after a W on his car registration was mistaken for another letter.

Steven Ward, 41, was disturbed at his home by workers from enforcement firm CDER Group.

They slapped him with a notice and warned if he didn't pay they'd take his car - so he stumped up. However Steven was able to prove he was 100 miles away in Oldham where he lives.
