Winter: How to Quickly De-Ice Your Windshield?
  • last year
As winter approaches and temperatures drop, motorists are concerned that they may have to deal with freezing temperatures.
What to do to de-ice your car?
1/ Activate the "de-icing" function on your vehicle and wait about 10 minutes before removing the ice with a window scraper.
2/ If the car does not have this function, use a de-icing product. It is possible to make one yourself.
To do so: Mix water with vinegar, water with salt or water with alcohol.
The mistake to avoid: Pour hot water on the ice. The thermal shock could cause a crack in the windshield.
Turning on the heater to the maximum and directing it towards the windows is also to be avoided.
Finally, it is not advisable to use the windshield wipers as they can be damaged.
Last tip: to avoid having to de-ice your car, use a tarp, newspaper or cardboard to protect the windows of the vehicle.
