A motorist has been jailed after being caught driving the wrong way down the M6 Toll road. Khizar Tahir was was sentenced to 21 months and banned from driving for almost five years. The 28 year old was said to have appeared drunk when stopped but failed to provide a breath sample.

New images have been unveiled of Birmingham's Smithfield development plans. Office spaces, markets, a roof garden, shops, a pub and two public squares will form part of a new city quarter in the southern parts of the city. Up to 3,000 residential units are also expected to be created.

Spitting Image has been turned into theatre show and its premiere is at Birmingham Rep. The stage production Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image Saves the World is opening at Birmingham Rep with a creative team that includes Roger Law, Al Murray, Matt Forde and Sean Foley.
