Coalition files student debt relief briefs with SCOTUS

A coalition of educators and state governments have filed a series of amicus briefs with the U.S. Supreme Court in an effort to persuade the justices to consider the Biden administration's proposals for relieving Americans' student debt. Federal data shows 43 million Americans, around 20 percent of adults, have educational loans outstanding that add up to a total of $1.6 trillion.
