Jack Meadows and sidekick Toby are looking for whiskey smugglers along the Canadian border. They find a badly wounded Seriff who earlier caught one of them and a nearby hoofprint of a horse with a broken shoe. Setting up a blacksmith shop, they soon find the owner of that horse and replace the shoe with another that will let them trace him.

Jack Meadows und sein Kumpel Toby suchen entlang der kanadischen Grenze nach Whisky-Schmugglern. Sie finden einen schwer verwundeten Seriff, der zuvor einen von ihnen gefangen hatte, und einen nahe gelegenen Hufabdruck eines Pferdes mit einem gebrochenen Schuh. Sie gründen eine Schmiede und finden bald den Besitzer dieses Pferdes und ersetzen den Schuh durch einen anderen, mit dem sie ihn verfolgen können.
