A winter storm brought another round of heavy rain and snow to already-soaked California over the weekend, causing more flooding and landslides. A video shared by the Cal Fire San Mateo–Santa Cruz Unit shows the moment a road collapsed down a hillside near Pescadero, in San Mateo County. The 4100 block of Stage Road was closed due to the partial collapse, officials said. Wet weather continued in California Monday after weeks of relentless winter storms caused flooding, mudslides and damage across the state. The state has seen widespread flooding as a series of atmospheric rivers brought multiple bouts of heavy rain and snow. President Joe Biden on Saturday approved a major disaster declaration in California, authorizing federal assistance for response and recovery efforts. The disaster declaration makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Merced, Sacramento, and Santa Cruz counties. Biden previously approved an emergency declaration in 17 affected counties. The ongoing storms have resulted in at least 20 fatalities and forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents, according to a Monday statement from the office of Gov. Gavin Newsom.
