Major Talk #15 – Frederic Fontang: “A coach is like an architect”
  • last year
Frederic Fontang shot to prominence as the coach of Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime but not many may know that he was a former player himself and also worked with the likes of Jeremy Chardy, Caroline Garcia and Vasek Pospisil.

Fontang has played an instrumental role in the rise of Auger-Aliassime, with whom he started working when the youngster was 16 to the Canadian’s current position of world No 6 and among the leading contenders for potential Grand Slam winners in 2023.

The Frenchman took some time away from his busy schedule to chat with Alizé Lim in the latest episode of Major Talk.

He opens up about his own career, his transition in to coaching, collaborating with Toni Nadal and what makes Auger-Aliassime tick.
