This hornbill species is found in a fairly wide area, including India, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.
The body of the white-bellied hornbill measures 55-60 cm.
White-bellied hornbills generally eat fruit, but they also eat small animals such as insects, fish, bats, frogs, lizards, snakes, scorpions, snails and others. Uniquely, the white-bellied hornbill also eats palm fruit (Corypha utan), acacia fruit, lianas and papaya fruit.
