Tortoise smuggling racket busted in UP’s Mainpuri

Mainpuri Police on Friday recovered about 300 tortoises of different species from Ghiror in Uttar Pradesh and arrested the smuggler.
The smuggler named Sonu Gihar has been arrested, Mainpuri Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Dixit said.
SP Dixit said, “About 300 rare species of turtles were recovered in Ghiror police station, in which the names of four people came to light, out of which Sonu Gihar has been arrested. He was working since long and has been selling it outside at an expensive price. Ghiror police was reward of Rs 10,000 for this successful work.”
