The Dallas Cowboys (11-3) defeated the Philadelphia Eagles (13-2) on Christmas Eve in AT&T Stadium in a 40-34 victory. Things started off a little shaky, the Eagles took a 10-0 lead after Prescott threw a pick-six early in the first quarter.
The Eagles started off with a solid opening drive with a 48 yard pass completion to A.J Brown. The Cowboys held Philadelphia to a field goal after solid coverage in the red zone by Micah Parsons and Nashon Wright giving up three points early.
The points continued for the Eagles, moments later Cowboys QB Dak Prescott threw a pick-six that resulted in a 42-yard touchdown from Josh Sweat, giving Philadelphia a 10-0 lead within the first six minutes of the game.
That was Prescott’s twelfth interception this season and it cost Dallas seven points early.
The Cowboys answer with an Ezekiel Elliott touchdown giving Eagles a 10-7 lead entering the second half. Momentum shifted after Jayron Kearse intercepted and gave Dallas the ball back in great position to score and take the lead. CeeDee Lamb then answered with a 36-yard touchdown from Prescott, giving Dallas a 14-10 lead.
The Eagles answered with a touchdown on their next drive. Cowboys try to take a lead entering the half but settle for a field goal. Philadelphia took a 20-17 lead into the half.
Prescott turned things around after that pick-six throwing 27-of-35 for 347 yards for three touchdowns and one interception. This is the first game this season that Prescott has thrown 300+ yards, and he is the first QB to throw over 300 yards against the Eagles this season.
We talked with Ezekiel Elliott after the game and when asked about how he felt after Prescott threw that pick-six he said, “I never worry about Dak.”
Defensively Dallas didn’t have their best game, that seems to be the trend these past couple of weeks. They gave up 34 points and we didn’t see much from the pass rush. The defensive player of the game goes to Jayron Kearse. He had an interception and a fumble recovery that resulted into two touchdowns for the Cowboys, giving Dallas a much needed 14 points to solidify their win against the Eagles.
Dallas will have another short week as they will head to Tennessee to take on the titans on Thursday Night Football.
