Stocks Rose Following Inflation Data

U.S. stock indexes climbed, and bond yields fell Tuesday after new consumer price index data was released. The S&P 500 rose 0.7 percent; the Nasdaq Composite rose 1 percent, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.3 percent. The latest data on the consumer-price index showed that inflation rose 7.1 percent in November, compared with 7.7% in October. Core inflation, which excludes food and energy, increased by 6 percent, softening from 6.3 percent.
