  • last year
Protests across Peru entered their fourth day on Saturday, as thousands continue to fill the streets calling for the release of former president Pedro Castillo and the closure of Congress. Castillo was impeached and arrested on Wednesday 7 December, having faced a series of corruption probes. His successor, Dina Boluarte, who many on the streets see as a "usurper", is Peru's first woman president.
