Kelly Clark, who is from Rotherham and used to train in Sheffield, claimed gold in the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) Commonwealth Championships nine years after taking up the sport to help ease her debilitating arthritis. The 58-year-old credits powerlifting with helping her slim down from 15 stone to 10 stone and get off the medication she used to need due to the agonising pain caused by her arthritis.
