Vina Bovy, soprano (1900-1983) live

First time she sang this part in Italian , Bovy's timbre is like that of Pons with it glassy sheen (a less welcome similarity is the tremolousness of her lower voice), but her singing has more emonional content. On the other hand she does command Pons' line in cantilena; thus some of the score's most affecting moments are victimized by choppy emotionalisme. Often enough Bovy works an odd combination of fragility and strength wich somehow strikes home.
