Leader of the Opposition Anwar Ibrahim was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Malaysia . He was appointed to the position of prime minister by Shah al-Sultan Abdullah.
Mr. Anwar and his rival, former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, both failed to win a majority in the country's most recent parliamentary elections. Anwar Ibrahim Abdullah, 75, was chosen by King Abdullah as the country's tenth prime minister after consulting several constitutional experts.
