At the time of Independence, India needed to rejuvenate it's economy from a completely dilapidated state. The country had many tasks infront of it, calling for immediate attention.
As government at that time decided upon an active role for governments in economy, naturally the "industrial" sector was to have a dominant role.
"industry" refers to an economic activity that is concerned with production of goods, extraction of minerals or provision of services.
industries can be classified on basis of raw materials, size and ownership.

let's see "types of industries"
first types is
industries based on raw material

first "types" is
agro basis "industries" use plants and animals based products as their raw materials e.g. Food Processing, Vegetable Oil, Cotton Textile, Dairy Products and Leather industries, etc.

second types is
mineral basis "industries" are primary industries that use mineral ores as their raw materials. The product of this industries feed other industries in the form of iron, steel, cement etc.

third "types" is
forest basis industries utilized forest produced as raw materials.
The industries is associated with forest pulp, paper, pharmaceuticals, furniture and buildings.

Basis On Size
"#typesofindustries" on the basis of size

first types is
small scale "industries"
are the types of industries where the products are manufacturer by hand or by the artisans e.g. basket weaving, pottery and other handi crafts.

second types is
large scale "industries", in large amount of capital and technology, e.g. production of automobiles and heavy machineries.

the third "types" is #industries based on ownership

first types is
private sector "industries" which are owned and operated by individuals or group of individuals e.g. Tisco, Bajaj Auto Limited, Dabur industries etc.
Individual companies are generally classified into an "industry" based on their largest sources of revenue.
