Lurking Up Above (Musical Poem)

Lurking up Above
The marchers rambled down the street
They all went by the same beat
The mantra was incredibly clear
The entire world was due to be upset
They’d be the new biggest threat
No matter the weather or sweat
They’re here to say the end is near
Can you live through the upturn and repair
Or do you even have a prayer
How much disgust and contempt is possible
Or else will before you find yourself withdrawn
The world of white riches call you black swan
They will claim the world you’re hunting for is bygone
And the bridge that connects it is uncrossable
There’s something lurking up above
It’s hiding, putting on a glove
They’ve closed the nearest shelter
So now we are all left out to swelter
Don’t worry though, the city has a new swat
The street cleaners have been given a new authority
The councilmen voted on it with a majority
The marchers were dismissed as a minority
The sidewalks were sold to the rich as a plot
Most of his friends are sleeping rough
While Sam curled up in all of his scruff
Decades ago he’d had his last interview
The employer couldn't quite take the smell
Or how he’d no experience with the doorbell
He’d just been patted on the back and told get well
Without legal tender how’d he be anew
There’s something lurking up above
This life isn’t something you walk out of
The overhang man has permanent exhibits
He understood what the law prohibits
I can’t just slander everyone
But there is a cover up coming from organization
They won’t tell you this on the tv station
They’re stealing, killing, and this is the causation
They want to put your normal life on the run
They’re putting a poison inside your water
And lying to you about the planet being hotter
It’s a simple form of control and trust
They have a patsy they knocked off with a gang
Because they knew he’d talk before he’d hang
Do you really believe you’ll go out with such a bang
No those secret men will pound you into dust

Jake saw all problems as a root of education
Too many people are worried about damnation
But they don’t see the problems lying in front of them
Most people don’t have the right qualifications
To figure out how to avoid their foundations
And this is the base of humanity’s frustrations

The world’s heating up, money doesn’t go as far
All the nations and powers are getting ready to spar
Nationalists and racists are snatching up seats
The ignorant deniers of reality are taking charge
Money is being moved into the pockets of the large

It won’t be too long until more of us are sleeping in the streets
