Senegal Star Sadio Mane Suffers World Cup injury Scare During Bayern Munich Game

Bayern Munich star Sadio Mane has had his World Cup hopes thrown into jeopardy after limping off during their league clash against Werder Bremen.

During the first-half of their Bundesliga encounter, the Senegal international limped off the pitch - after being assessed by Bayern's medical staff - with a suspected leg injury.

Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann confirmed after the game the winger will 'have an x-ray' to further determine the extent of the injury with the World Cup commencing in less than two weeks time.

According to Eurosport, Nagelsmann said that Mane 'took a knock to the head of his tibia. It's always uncomfortable. He has to have an X-ray. I hope nothing is wrong.'

‘I didn’t see him after the game, I hope it’s not a big injury. But I don’t know at the moment', the Bayern boss continued. ‘We’ll see tomorrow and then give an update.’

Just 15 minutes into their encounter with Werder Bremen the 30-year-old went doing holding his right leg and signaled for Bayern's medical team to come onto the pitch.

It's clear that Nagelsmann didn't want to risk furthering Mane's injury and withdrew the Senegal star for former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane.

It could come as a massive blow for his national side given the fact he was instrumental in their African Cup of Nations victory in February this year.

It seems unlikely that Mane will be fit for their final league fixture before the World Cup break against Schalke on Saturday and he'll be hoping he'll still be able to feature for Senegal in 13 days time.

He's been a key figure in their success across the international scene and has notched 34 goals in 93 appearances for Senegal.

It's likely he would've added to that tally given his impressive form for Bayern Munich this year. He's already registered nine goals and four assists in 19 appearances for the Bavarian giants.
