Outgoing Tanjong Karang MP Noh Omar says he has not started campaigning in the constituency for BN candidate Habibah Mohd Yusof because it is considered a safe seat for the party.
Malaysiakini has learned that Habibah is also facing internal rejection from local Umno members who are more attached to Noh Omar, who served for six terms since 1995.
Since the Tanjong Karang Umno Women's chief was named to replace Noh, many of the party grassroots members have openly expressed their grievances against the decision.
