Ben Atkins - album Patchouli 1971

  • 2 anni fa
First album by soul singer/songwriter Ben Atkins from Vernon, Alabama, who was the first white musician to sign with Stax. Deep voice, with soulful and way gospel influences, the album is filled with solid hooks and catchy choruses. Soulish album but added to tighter crunch of folk and country, with somewhat pubrock feeling. His second and last album "Reachin' for the feeling" would be released eleven years later.

Ben Atkins - vocals. Jimmy Johnson, Wayne Perkins, Bobby Manuel- guitars.
Benny Beckett - keyboards.
Marvell Thomas - piano.
David Hood, Donald "Duck" Dunn, John Gaston - bass.
Roger Hawkins, Joe Correro Jr., Al Jackson Jr.- drums.
Ginger Holliday, Jeanie Greene, Mary F. Holladay, Temple Raiser - backing vocals.

I love this song.
Cross my mind.
Shine on.
Holding on to friends.
Amokestack Lightnin'/Brighter side of all.
Solid fround.
That brings me down.
A long way to go.
Would I be better gone?
Good times are coming.
