छठ पूजा की शुरुआत 28 अक्टूबर शुक्रवार से हो चुकी है। 29 अक्टूबर को खरना है। 30 अक्टूबर को अस्ताचलगामी यानी डूबते हुए सूर्य को अर्घ्य दिया जाएगा, उसके अगले दिन सुबह यानी 31 अक्टूबर को उदयगामी यानी उगते हुए सूर्य को अर्घ्य देकर छठ पूजा का समापन होगा। इस पर्व की शुरुआत नहाय-खाय के दिन 28 अक्टूबर से शुरू हुई है। छठ सूर्य उपासना और छठी माता की उपासना का पर्व है। हिन्दू आस्था का यह एक ऐसा पर्व है, जिसमें मूर्ति पूजा शामिल नहीं है। इस पूजा में छठी मईया के लिए व्रत किया जाता है। यह व्रत कठिन व्रतों में से एक माना जाता है।
