छठ पूजा के दिन भगवान सूर्य और छठी मैया की पूजा की जाती है। ऐसी मान्यता है कि छठ पूजा के चार दिनों के दौरान सूर्य और छठी माता की पूजा करने वाले लोगों की हर परेशानी दूर होती है जबकि मनोकामनाएं पूरी होती हैं।
