Australian national men’s football team condemned human rights abuses in Qatar ahead of the World Cup and became the first participant to collectively criticize the host.On Thursday 27 October Sixteen members of the men's team, the Socceroos, appeared in a short video explaining their stance and calling for an “effective remedy” for migrant workers and the decriminalization of same-sex relationships.The upcoming World Cup begins on 20 November and has been surrounded by controversy after Qatar was awarded the rights 12 years ago.Qatar’s human rights record has been a concern for several non-governmental organisations. @Socceroos, Twitter
