प्रत्येक वर्ष लोक आस्था का महापर्व छठ मनाया जाता है। छठ के पर्व को आस्था का महापर्व माना गया है। कार्तिक माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की षष्ठी तिथि पर छठी मैया की पूजा की जाती है। मान्यता है कि छठ पूजा करने वाले भक्तों को सुख-समृद्धि, धन, वैभव, यश और मान-सम्मान की प्राप्ति होती है। कहते हैं जो महिलाएं यह व्रत रखती हैं उनकी संतानों को दीर्घायु और सुख समृद्धि प्राप्त होती है। इसके साथ यह व्रत करने से निरोगी जीवन का आशीर्वाद भी मिलता है। छठ पर्व भारत के कुछ कठिन पर्वों में से एक है जो 4 दिनों तक चलता है। इस पर्व में 36 घंटे निर्जला व्रत रख सूर्य देव और छठी मैया की पूजा की जाती है और उन्हें अर्घ्य दिया जाता है। यह व्रत मनोकामना पूर्ति के लिए भी किया जाता है। महिलाओं के साथ पुरुष भी यह व्रत करते हैं। कार्तिक माह की चतुर्थी तिथि पर नहाय-खाय होता है, इसके बाद दूसरे दिन खरना और तीसरे दिन डूबते सूर्य को अर्घ्य दिया जाता है। चौथे दिन उगते सूर्य को अर्घ्य देने के बाद व्रत का पारण किया जाता है। आइए जानते है खरना कब है ।
