PRESIDENT ROTARY INTERNATIONAL LAUDED PROFESSIONAL STANDARD MAINTAINED BY SSU COMMANDOS
A delegation led by President Rotary International Mr. Gordon R. Mclnally along with his wife Heather Mclnally visited Special Security Unit Headquarters and lauded the existing professional standard maintained in Special Security Unit and measures adopted to further enhance professional capabilities of SSU commandos. The delegation also included Director Rotary International Muhammad Faiz Kidwai, Chairman Rotary Pakistan Media Iqbal Qureshi and Governor Rotary International for Sindh and Balochistan Tehzeeb Kazmi.
Rotary International is world’s biggest humanitarian service organization established 117 years ago in USA, with 1.4 million members in more than 190 countries worldwide.
Commandant SSU Irum Awan briefed the delegation about the function of various sections of SSU and informed about the measures adopted to setup country’s first Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T) team. She also briefed about advance professional training being provided to commandos and issuance of ISO certificate by United Kingdom Accreditation System (UKAS) Britain on maintaining international standard in the field of performing counter terrorism operations and provision of foolproof security services to vital installations, national and foreign dignitaries.
Commandant SSU also briefed the delegation about flood relief activities conducted by the Special Security Unit (SSU) particularly the establishment of medical camp in Dadu and distribution of ration and edible things in various areas of Sindh after devastated flood.
The delegation also witnessed the mock exercise conducted by the commandos of S.W.A.T team in case of any emergency situation.
Later, Commandant SSU presented honorary shield to Mr. Gordon R. Mclnally.
