The Zig Zag People Take Bubble Gum Music Underground Bubblegum, Psychedelic Pop, Psychedelic Soul
  • last year
The dates of the band listed are approximate. This band was an outgrowth of 2 Long Island Bar bands from the 60's - Robin & the Hoods, and Rat Race. Mike Brown & Sal were in Rat Race, a band they started while at East Meadow High School. The others were older and in the Hoods, a popular bar band. They hooked up because Brown studied drums at the music studio manging the Hoods. The band was primarily a cover band.

The Zig Zag People Take Bubble Gum Music Underground was a concept album dreamed up by Decca. They had the music tracks and needed a band to drop in the vocals. Zig Zag's manager, Lou Bolognese had a contact at Decca and the band was hired. As a result, the only song the band plays the instruments on was the last one, Indian Giver. The guys were fine musicians in their own right, it was just circumstances that brought this about.
