Inflation Hits Trick-or-Treaters with Rising Candy Costs
  • 2 years ago
Along with the cost of a carton of eggs (30 percent increase) and utility gas (33 percent increase), Halloween candy saw a 13 percent price increase this year. To put it in perspective, the last time that the cost of Halloween candy made that leap was between the years 1997 to 2006. Increases in the prices of flour and sugar are driving up the cost of sweets. Sugar is up 17 percent since last September, and flour prices have risen by 24 percent.
