Is Waking up Early , Actually Good for You?.
We’re constantly told that waking up early allows for a more productive day.
But does the early
bird really get the worm?.
For some people, waking up early can actually be counterproductive.
Research shows that our biological clocks aren’t all set the same, meaning some people have longer circadian cycles.
Up to 47% of our circadian rhythm,
A.K.A. our internal clock, is inherited
from our parents.
Oxford University biologist Katharina Wulff believes pushing people out of their natural preferences can be harmful.
…you disrupt it and push the body to be in the daytime mode. That can have lots of negative physiological consequences. , Katharina Wulff, via BBC.
Their bodies may actually still be producing melatonin in the early morning because of the cycle disruption.
Night owls that wake up early are also often sacrificing sleep to do so.
This causes negative effects such as sleep deprivation, poor concentration and anxiety.
If people are left to their naturally preferred times, they feel much better. They say that they are much more productive. The mental capacity they have is much broader. , Katharina Wulff, via BBC
