TikTok parent company ByteDance shared a financial report with employees that offered a glimpse into the private company’s closely guarded finances. ByteDance’s revenue grew 80% to $61.7 billion in 2021, but it also absorbed a considerable increase in operating losses of $7.15 billion in 2021, up from $2.14 billion in 2020. Besides TikTok, ByteDance also runs apps widely used by people in China, including Douyin and Jinri Toutiao.
