DAVID MARCUS: Americans sympathize with stroke victim John Fetterman. But it's not 'ableist' to demand medical proof he's actually mentally capable of holding the Senate seat he craves

MARCUS: In an interview with NBC News, it became clear that Fetterman is incapable of understanding the spoken word. That's not an exaggeration and it's not just me saying it. 'He still has auditory processing difficulties as a result of the stroke,' reported the NBC correspondent, who spoke to Fetterman at his home. It turns out, Fetterman can't conduct an interview without the aid of a teleprompter system that shows him the questions in written form. Nobody likes that Fetterman had a stroke, we all think it's awful. But he did. It's real. We can't pretend it's not. We all wish the best to John Fetterman and his family, but he can't be a senator in his present condition and voters deserve to know his prospects for full recovery.
