Sealion has to be herded by residents and police after wandering into road in Alaska

A lone sea lion had to be herded back to its own habitat after it was caught wandering through a city's streets. Various clips show the large animal being herded through the streets of Valdez in Alaska and into marshlands by the authorities. Valdez Police Department explained that at this time of the year they are usually dealing with wandering bears, not sea lions. A spokesman said: "We got a call about a sea lion that had 'crossed the road.' "It sounded like a bad joke but we went over and lo and behold a sea lion had crossed the road! "The animal was distressed, tired, and we thought, possibly looking for snacks at the gas station?" The department explained that they used their vehicles and one resident with a digger to guide the animal back to where it would be safe. "Thanks to some creative vehicle herding by our officers and the assistance of local resident Jeff Saxe and his trusty backhoe, we were able to safely get this guy or gal back to the tidelands. "A legit happy ending for all of us and our new friend."
