A new sensor-packed firefighting helmet uses artificial intelligence to allow firefighters to “see” through smoke and rescue victims faster. Thermal cameras, radar and inertial sensors are mounted on a standard firefighter helmet to collect data. AI then interprets the data to provide wearers with real-time information that can help detect victims, recognise teammates and provide an accurate understanding of wearers’ own location.
