As the World Cup approaches, so to does the steady stream of adverts reminding us of the impending festival of football.

And no World Cup is complete without Pepsi's offering, who have gone as far as teasing their actual advert with a 26-second clip on their own YouTube channel.

The soft drinks company has a habit of making some of the most memorable adverts in football, whether that be taking an alternative look at Sir Alex Ferguson's half-time team talks, or showing how sumo wrestlers can beat the world's best footballers at their own game.

The trio can all be seen at various points in the trailer, alongside three other characters - Omar, Kaljit and Ahmad, as they perform skills in the streets of what appears to be an Arabian city.

A message appears on the screen giving an insight into what the story of the campaign might entail, with the message: 'This year, a nutmeg will stop the world. And no one can escape from it.'

The trailer ends with Messi taking off his white hoodie to reveal the Pepsi top he's wearing under.

Pepsi have a habit of creating eye-catching ads involving some of the games biggest stars.

In recent years, the company has had huge brand ambassadors, such as David Beckham, Francesco Totti and Raul.

Pepsi are no strangers when it comes to massive ad campaigns and are responsible for one of the most expensive adverts in TV history, spending $8.1million on their 2001 Super Bowl advert fronted by Britney Spears, called 'Joy of Pepsi'.
