19-year-old charged after alleged blackmail of customers
  • 2 years ago
A 19-year-old has been charged for allegedly trying to blackmail people using stolen Optus data. It's alleged the Sydney man threatened more than 90 people saying via text message he would use their details to commit crimes unless they paid him 2-thousand dollars. No customers paid him money. The data was from the stolen Optus customer records that had been posted online. But the A-F-P say the man is not suspected of being behind the Optus hack but tried to benefit from the attack.
