Uttarakhand: 8 rescued, 21 mountaineering trainees trapped in avalanche at Danda-2 peak

Following a mishap at Draupadi’s Danda-2 Mountain Peak, SDRF teams on October 04 left Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun to rescue 29 Nehru Institute of Mountaineering trainees trapped in an avalanche in the peak. No casualties have been reported so far and 8 mountaineers have been rescued safely. As per IAF sources, two Cheetah helicopters have been deployed for relief operations. All other choppers have been put on the stand for other requirements. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended his condolences to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones. He also spoke to State Chief Minister PS Dhami and took stock of the situation.
