भारत की सबसे पुरानी पार्टी कांग्रेस (Congress) के अध्यक्ष पद (Congress President Election) के चुनाव को लेकर कई दिनों से तमाम तरह की चर्चाएं हो रही थी। अब चुनाव का नोटिफिकेशन जारी हो चुका है। इस पद के लिए अगर एक से अधिक दावेदार होंगे तो 17 अक्टूबर को चुनाव होगा और 19 अक्टूबर को नतीजे घोषित हो जाएंगे। इस चुनाव के लिए जिन दो नेताओं का नाम सबसे ज्यादा चर्चा में है वो हैं राजस्थान के सीएम अशोक गहलोत (Ashok Gehlot) हालांकि, उनका कहना कि वो अध्यक्ष पद के लिए राहुल गांधी (Rahul Gandhi) को मनाएंगे। दूसरा नाम है पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता शशि थरूर (Shashi Tharoor) का जिन्होंने खुल चुनाव लड़ने की इच्छा जाहिर की थी।
