Troubling video shows a horde of American high school students singing a racial slur on a crowded train in Washington D.C.

The youths were singing along to the song 'Freestyle', by rapper Lil Baby, and singing the N-word before someone is heard shouting ‘Yo, yo’, before they erupt into laughter.

Some of the teenagers can be seen wearing tops from Landon - a private, college preparatory school for boys in Bethesda, Maryland.

Another video shows the teenagers hitting the Metro car as they yell ‘F*** Gonzaga’ - Gonzaga College High School is another private college preparatory high school in the district that the Landon soccer team was playing that night.

The Twitter user said: “What is this mess on my train?

“They just got off at Union station. Landon School control your students.”

Landon School shared a statement on their social media pages after the video went viral, stating they ‘are deeply concerned'.

They went on to confirm that the boys were students at the school and described their behaviour as ‘unacceptable and antithetical' to the school’s values and Civility Code.

The school is looking into the matter as they begin the school year and stated that the ‘characteristics of respect, honor, and kindness’ are ‘essential’ for the students.

The video was filmed on September 2nd.
