Proclamation of the Accession of the new King at County Hall in Lewes on September 11 2022

The High Sheriff of East Sussex, Mrs Jane King, made a county proclamation of the new sovereign.
The tradition of the proclamation dates back many centuries to before modern communications when the local announcement was often the first time people learned of the accession of a new monarch.

In 2022, the proclamation offers an opportunity for the community to gather together at this unique point in history as the reign of the longest-serving monarch of this country has ended and a new sovereignty has begun.
