How to Connect With Co-Workers
When Working Remotely .
According to a recent survey by
the Morning Consult, 58 percent of
remote workers feel like they are
disconnected from their co-workers. .
The same survey found that
44 percent of respondents
felt more isolated and lonely
working from home. .
Here are five tips to connect
with your co-workers from a
distance and maintain your
valuable work friendships.
1. Identify what specific aspects
of your in-person work environment
that you’re missing. .
From there, family therapist Lupe Nambo
recommends talking to your co-workers
and being “transparent with [your] needs.”.
2. Reach out and casually touch
base with your co-workers just so they
know that you’re thinking about them. .
If you have more of an established
friendship, don’t be afraid to create
a dedicated online group for chatting
or plan a virtual happy hour.
3. Be proactive about maintaining contact by
scheduling check-ins with your co-workers.
A 15-minute chat on the
phone will not only leave you
feeling more connected, it’ll
also be a good break from
your normal routine. .
4. Have a few topics prepared before
chatting with your co-workers in order to
create meaningful conversations. .
5. If you’re nervous about reaching out, offer to help them in some way. .
Putting forth that type
of effort will make your
co-workers feel seen
and supported
