Five million Australians are about to receive some relief from the soaring cost of living, with welfare payments about to increase by their biggest margin in over 30 years. Acting CEO of the Australian Council of Social Service, Edwina MacDonald says this increase is just routine - and the government needs to make a permanent much more substantial increase to help people struggling with the soaring cost of living.
