Foreign minister Penny Wong has committed to expanding Papua New Guinea's participation in the pacific labour mobility scheme, while in Port Moresby today. Minister Wong met with Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister James Marape as part of a two-day visit to strengthen regional ties, amid rising influence from China. The foreign minister says the government will look at improving visa access but wouldn't make any promises. She says the government will focus on helping workers build skills as part of the pacific labour scheme.
