Strike Force Fairmount was established by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, with the assistance of South West Metropolitan Region, to investigate the alleged murder of Youssef Assoum after he was located with a gunshot wound and lacerations in Bankstown on Thursday 11 December 2014.

Following extensive inquiries under SF Fairmount, a 42-year-old man was arrested by Tactical Operations Unit (TOU) officers in Edgecliff about 4.50pm yesterday (Sunday 28 August 2022).

The man has been charged with murder and kidnap in company with intent to commit serious indictable offence (special aggravated kidnap) and will appear at Downing Centre Local Court today (Monday 29 August 2022).
